CalRecycle hosts a monthly public meeting, held via online webcast, on the third Tuesday of each month to share updates on programs, actions, and decisions. The February 2025 meeting addressed Sunshine Canyon directly, showing CalRecycle’s role in oversight. By attending, we can demand stricter regulations, push for environmental justice, and ensure our voices influence decisions that impact our air, water, and well-being, especially given the landfill’s history of violations. The next meeting is a critical opportunity to fight for a safer future.

Sunshine Canyon Landfill Community Advisory Community Meeting
Center for Spiritual Living
17622 Chatsworth Street
Granada Hills, CA 91344
The Sunshine Canyon Landfill Community Advisory Committee (SCL-CAC) meetings bring together community members, landfill operators, and regulatory agencies to address the landfill’s impact on the surrounding area. Held bimonthly at the Center for Spiritual Living in Granada Hills or via Zoom, these meetings feature reports from Republic Services on landfill operations, the South Coast AQMD on odor complaints, and the Local Enforcement Agency on compliance.

Attending is crucial for residents to stay informed, voice health and environmental concerns—like methane emissions and fire debris risks—and hold operators accountable.

Attending protests and in-person or virtual meetings and hearings is one of the most impactful ways to advocate for our community. When we show up in numbers, we send a clear message to officials: We will not be ignored. These meetings provide a chance to hear updates, ask questions, and hold decision-makers accountable for the ongoing issues caused by Sunshine Canyon Landfill.

Whether you speak or simply attend, your presence strengthens our fight. Join us at the next meeting and help demand real change!
